Tivoli Audio

TivoliAudio NetWorks

When Tivoli Audio CEO Tom DeVesto and his team of engineers set out to create the next generation of home audio, they began with a simple question: What would the ideal radio do?

The new Tivoli Audio NetWorks radio is the answer to that question. Taking advantage of broadcasting over the Internet, NetWorks delivers crystal-clear reception of any radio station, near or far, with no need for a computer. NetWorks allows listeners to tune in to Italian Opera from Milan, rock music from New York City, or any specialty, niche radio station from any location in the world in its native language, and in real time.It also allows access to music stored on PCs from any room in the house through a wireless or Ethernet connection. NetWorks features Tivoli Audio-quality sound as a stand-alone unit, but can be expanded with a stereo speaker, CD player, or subwoofer. And the NetWorks radio builds upon Tivoli Audio’s reputation as a design leader, offering a choice of furniture-quality hardwood cabinets.

The result is an elegantly simple, beautifully designed, yet technologically-advanced NetWorks that points to the future of home audio entertainment.

NetWorks Internet $599
NetWorks Internet/FM $799
NetWorks Internet/FM/DAB $899

Wilson Audio

Wilson Audio Sophia Series 2

The Wilson Sophia Series two is here, and we couldn’t be more excited, after months of waiting, cursing and bemoaning the time it has taken for them to get here, it’s all been worth the wait. There have been numerous changes to the Sophia, which was first introduced in 2001. Over time Wilson has developed models like Alexandria X-2, MAXX 2 and the brand new Duette, technologies applied to these speakers have now been integrated into the Sophia.

Anti-Jitter technology reduces interaction among the drivers and reduces the noise floor. The music emerges from a blacker background.

Bass-Alignment technology achieves bass that is at once deeper, faster, and more articulate.

Anti-Diffraction technology applied to the tweeter diminishes back wave interference in the time and frequency domain. Sophia Series 2 is more holographic, more detailed, and sweeter.

Finally, Wilson's new recessed pin-mounted grilles give Sophia Series 2 a sleek, elegant presence in your room.

Wilson Audio Duette

The Wilson Duette is a new development in compact loudspeaker design. The goal was to design a speaker that could work in all environments, and when Wilson say “work” they don’t just mean, reproduce sound. What they have achieved with this loudspeaker is a sound that encompasses all that Wilson hold dear. A soundstage that is both wide, deep and completely 3 dimensional, it will amaze with complex music. A mid range that is sweet, articulate, tonallyaccurate, voices will appear from the blackest backgrounds. Percussion with the speed and neutrality not before heard in a speaker of its size.

So how did they achieve this feat? Simple actually, it was a rather Novell idea!

Wilson Audio DuetteThe Novell is the Duette’s external crossover network. This Crossover design lies at the heart of the Wilson Audio sound. Each crossover, whether destined for Duette or Alexandria, is hand-wired using custom capacitors and even custom solder. They are, of necessity, large and heavy. To keep Duette's size and weight appropriate for varied applications, it was quickly apparent it made sense to house the crossover in a separate module. Another, more compelling engineering reason to do so is that in an enclosure the size of Duette, the proximity of a crossover to the drivers would make the circuits susceptible to mechanical and electromechanical feedback from the drivers, introducing subtle yet audible distortion. At Wilson Audio, the size of a speaker is irrelevant to the care given to its design and manufacture.

An ingenious set of spikes in three sizes magnetically attach to the side or bottom of Duette, allowing the speaker to be placed either vertically or horizontally. In addition, the Duette can be used on its custom stand as a typical floor-standing speaker. Included with the Duette are a set of tweeter resistors and custom designed cables for near boundary placement and another set of resistors and cables for away from boundary placement. The resistors and cables selected are determined by the application in which the Duette is to be used. The Duette will be an instant Wilson Classic!

WE NOW HAVE THE LENGENDARY WILSON WATT/PUPPY 8 AVAILABLE FOR DEMONSTRATION.

Synthesis MagnumSynthesis

Magnum and Magnus

Synthesis has been with Tivoli for 4 years now and we love their Valves amps.

The Boffins at Synthesis have been busy developing 3 new models to their range which we think redefine the price to performance ratio.

There are two amplifiers in the range, the Magnum 50 and Magnum 100. They are 50 and 100 Watts per channel respectively and are a hybrid design. They use ECC88/6922 twin triode tubes in the input stage and a MOSFET transistor output stage to give you that delicate and rich tube mid range and treble with the slam and control in the bass of transistors. Best of all is the price; the Magnum 50 is only $999 while the Magnum 100 is $1499. The second best of all is that these wonderful amps are still made in Italy!

Designed to match the Magnum amplifiers is the superb Magnus CD player. Again featuring a tube output stage it is combined with the most up to date 24/192 Digital to Analogue converters, this little gem is the perfect partner to the Magnum’s or for those wanting their digital to be a bit more analogue.
